Independents for Newark and District petition to reinstate overnight urgent care service at Newark hospital surpasses 1,000 signatures
Including signatures collected by hand, the total is closing near 1,400. This significant milestone reflects the overwhelming support from residents who are deeply concerned about the current healthcare provisions in Newark and the District.
Numerous residents have reached out to us expressing solidarity with our campaign and sharing their own stories of concern and experiences with Newark Hospital,” says Susan Crosby. “Their voices amplify the urgency of the matter and underscore the vital need for accessible and comprehensive healthcare services in our community.”
In addition to their petition, IfND has been actively engaging with the Sherwood Forest Hospital Trust to represent the views of Newark and Balderton residents. This involvement has included attending public consultations, organising extra sessions to ensure community input, and tirelessly raising awareness of the petition. Members of the group have also been present at Newark Town Market, collecting petition signatures and speaking directly with residents
Susan Crosby is now calling for a meeting with David Ainsworth, Director of Strategy and Partnerships at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to discuss the petition and address the concerns raised by residents.
“I have a good working relationship with David and trust he will meet with me to discuss the best interests of Newark's residents and ensure their voices are heard in decisions affecting their healthcare.”
IfND encourages all concerned residents and supporters to participate in the petition. Every signature contributes to the collective effort to ensure the provision of essential healthcare services for Newark and District residents.
